World Hunger Relief Summer Farm Camp offers educational activities that focus on hunger alleviation, agriculture, and environmental care for our community. Our curriculum focuses on hunger/healthy living, plant and animal agriculture, composting and Creation care. Our Summer Farm Camp serves a county where 22.5% of children suffer from food insecurity and 66% of Waco ISD students are eligible to participate in the federal free and reduced-price meal program. 76% of these students were considered at "risk of dropping out of school" which exacerbates food insecurity.
Through a partnership with Waco ISD we've been able to offer free camp opportunities to a diverse under-served population for the last two years. This partnership sponsors 125 Waco ISD students to attend summer camp at no cost, including free breakfast and lunch, and transportation. Through our farm camp we seek to give children opportunities for experiences they would not have access to otherwise, provide a nutritious meal, and teach them about Creation care and agriculture.
